The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Response Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping. The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Size Classification Modifications Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated. Necessary Adjustments A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
